Hi, I can not describe the immense pain I am in. Had surgery on 28th March and the ankle block wore off completely last evening at home.
I have been taking 15mg Endone (Oxycodone) every 4 hours with paracetamol and having very little effect. The burning and throbbing is horrendous.
Have others experienced similar?
I'm concerned that this might not be normal.
I have had both feet done allough not together and have just had bone fusion and iv never had pain with any i would contact hospital wr you had your opp if your in so much pain
I agree. Some pain is expected, in the first 1-3 days. A common cause of excessive pain is a tight dressing / bandage. Contact your surgeon.
Are you keeping your feet elevated
i had no pain but did have some burning when feet were lowered
so keep mine elevated for most of the time
I had the same pain as you are describing! But I had it for the first 2days then it wore Of lovely!! I was taking codiene for the first 3days helped a lot but I've stopped taking all medication now as I have no pain at all!! Keep it elevated as big as possible it also keep a pillow underneath your knee as it aches!! I am 1week post op today wth no pain!!
Poor you! All I can recommend is elevation (leg as high as possible), medication and ice and if it gets much worse seek medical attention. Good luck
Thanks Hilary, yes I have had my foot elevated, but the burning was indescribable!
I left a message on the surgeon's answering machine last Wednesday (day of discharge) and still waiting for a return call!!
