Im 6 months post op on my THR. Been doing ok but today my 1 year old was about to fall down some stairs and i ran to catch him but now im on intense amount of pain in my upper thigh. Its not muscle pain feels more like bone pain. Should I be worried or go to the ER? Dont want to miss work but I can barely stand at the moment. I got ice pack and have it elevated. The pain is just so intense. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
go to ER would be my advice.
An X-ray may be appropriate. Muscle pull or stem pain perhaps. Tylenol and give it a day
Don't mess around, if it's really bad go to ER. More than likely you just strained muscles and things beyond what there used to. Besides one year olds heel fast. Mine went down the steps twice and was fine. Sorry had to throw that in there.
Afternoon Jax. Go to ER!! Better safe than sorry. I went over a week on a dislocated hip and wound up with a total hip revision 3 weeks later. I'm not saying yours is dislocated but maybe something else happened. Please let us know how you are. Best of luck to you. Hugs 🤗 Linda
Ouch! Sorry that happened! I tend to like to wait a day or 2 before I head in to see a Dr. about things but that's your call. I would elevate it, ice it and take some Tylenol and see how it feels. You may have just pulled a muscle from reaching so quickly, even though it feels deeper than that. It makes sense that it would be on the operated side as even after 6 months those muscles are still healing. Good luck with whatever you decide and let us know how it turns out.
I think the ER. Better to be safe than sorry
6 months post op I had a fall landed heavily in knees. Stem pain was bad but I could walk. Saw surgeon a couple of months later as still had pain. No fracture but pain was caused by bruising. Took around 3 months to stop hurting.
If it was me and the ice and elevation of the leg did not alleviate your pain, I would definitely visit the ER...hopefully, you didn't dislocate! Please post the outcome...positive thoughts your way!
Yes sounds like a dislocation I had two off them I was just sitting on sofa first time

You can not be to carefully like I said dislocation is so easy and if not that any severe pain get it checked for your own safety
Thanks everyone for the feed back. I ended up going to ER cause the pain just got to bad. Got xrays taken amd showed a stress fracture at the end of the femur implant. Admitted to hospital amd waiting to see what they are gonna do. Will keep yall informed.
