Sevre abdominal pain, back and let pain.

Hi everyone, for the past month I have been experiencing severe cramps, bloating and gas. The pain radiates to all my back and my right leg. I have been to my doctor twice, he seems to think it's IBS. Over the past week I have also visited the ER because the pain in my abdomin was too much! They carried out blood tests to check for anemia ,liver, kindey and pancreas function as well as chest and abdominal x-ray and results came back normal. I have also visited a gastroenterologist who also mentioned IBS and scheduled me for a barrium swollow and a CT scan which I will be doing in two weeks time. I am really worried that this pain might be something a lot worse than IBS. Can IBS really contribute to all this on going abdominal pain? because my pain is continuous it's doesn't come and go. I also had an endoscopy done 5 years ago and it resulted that I also have a haital hernia and suffer from GERD. Could I kindly get some feed back from anyone who can relate to these symptoms please.

Many thanks.

IBS can cause a lot of pain to the point of vomiting.  It can be constant or come and go. My IBS started as constant pain so I also thought it couldn’t be IBS but something worse.  I thought it could only be come and go pain to be IBS.  Once, I was diagnosed, my pain became come and go flare ups as my anxiety subsided.   While you are worrying, your flare ups will keep coming.  The best thing you can do is to wait and see what your tests show first before thinking the worst.   Maybe ask your doctor for an antispasmodic to help with the pain to tide you over.  GERD goes along with IBS.  I have this too.  When all your tests are normal, this would suggest IBS.

Are you havong change of bowel habit? Are symptoms made worse by eating or stress?  Do you feel temporary relief of pain after a bowel movement?  Does your pain move about?  These are also signs of IBS
