I am actively bisexual & have regular check ups and different vaccinations and have joined the PrEP trial. My query is should I tell my GP as the two medical sides are totally independent. None of my vaccinations or PrEP meds show on my GPs records. What are the pros and cons being open to my Doctor?
Hey,
I am on PrEp for 3 years but I purchased by myself.
Glad you are in the trail now and hopefully you could find the benefit of taking PrEp.
I think you should visit your GP and let them know that you are on PrEp and report to them what kind of vaccinations you have injected. (I assume that you had HPV,HPA,HPB vaccinations :))
I do not think it is any bad to tell your GP about your medical history, there were some concerns of taking PrEp happened before which been reported that the doctor was against of taking PrEp and rejected to give prescriptions for PrEp, but since you are on the trail, i do not think it will be any issue.
Also, most doctors in the UK is educated about PrEp, so you will be fine ![]()
