Hi folks,

i probably shouldnt but im gonna go there. What's happens about sex positions post op and how long are we restricted for? I'm worried about putting my hip out and it's been that long because of my complete fracture non union, that I'm missing the intimacy but my husband is worried about hurting me.

I hope it's not too sensitive a question!

Plenty of info on line about positions. I was given info at preop, seemed to be whenever you are ready after 4-6 weeks and be gentle. I think there is some info on Rocketmans website and there have been other threads which you could find and read.

if you read everything together it helps the fun

Hi Brianne,

Glad you brought that issue up.No doubt many out there thinking the same.There is lots of info online but can we be sure it's reliable.I believe the missionary position is safe because your knees are out and not crossing over.Slow and steady I would think and what you are comfortable with.

Hi Grainne , I know exactly what you mean, I'm finding it hard as I have just started a new relationship and as we all know things are fresh and exciting but I'm a bit worried about certain positions and without being crude how far apart are you able to put your legs, I'm 6 months post opp.

We've had this several times in the time I have been on this forum.

Best advice is go slowly, and let your partner know if anything hurts at all.

Here's a picture of possible positions - I am sure there must be way more possibilities - it depends if the man or woman has had the THR - so ladies who have had THR should try the ones with the female symbol and green tick, and avoid the ones with a red cross and men who have had THR should try the ones with the male symbol and green tick, and avoid the ones with a red cross.

We had fun experimenting - and come up with our own solutions to the problem, it was kinda nice to get reacquainted with each other after a 6 week abstinance.

Its been so long. I had my rthr 6 months ago and my left 4 weeks ago. Prior to my first surgery I was in a lot if pain so it was the last thing on my mind. Then recovering from that, being on pain meds, and my left hip getting very painful quickly.

Soon I will be able to have sex again and am afraid the expectations may be too high. I'm not sure what to expect and what will be expected of me. Im a 48 year old male and my girfriend has been very patient for a long time.
