Shaking when I wake

Its been 6 weeks now and 4 weeks on lexapro, there are times when I feel a bit better, but my mornings are tough and I wake up shaking.

I’m lucky if I get a couple of hours a day without bad anxiety.

I have been able to to more then ususal like driving farther and being in public easier.

I’ve been taking a nap daily just from the fatigue this anxiety is causing.

I’m wondering if I need to raise my dose, my doctor said to give the 10mg 5-6 weeks but my psychiatrist said to go to 20mg.

does anyone else wake up shaking or wake with anxiety from the start?

I would go with your DR says…give the 10mg longer to work…going up to 20mg so soon is only going to make you worse…give them time…and if you have to come off them, then at least you will just have to taper from 10mg…I waken up some mornings shaking, and I dont take meds…you say, you feel better some days, so mayby they are starting to work…I would give the 10mg about 8 weeks before up dosing…x

Hi Certate,

Yes i had the same reaction taking Citalopram. Every morning i woke up with intense anxiety and dread for the day ahead and i just didn’t want to get out of bed. I would shake too, if i stretched my whole body would shake, it was really weird and unpleasant. In the end, after several months i couldn’t handle waking up like that every morning so i decided to stop taking the tablets and I’ve never felt better. I think mainly because now i can realise how much worse the citalopram was making me, so in comparison i feel great now! Good luck though with whatever ever choice you make and i hope it works out for you

its not the pills that are causing me to shake, its the anxiety.

Many times anti-depressants will increase anxiety at the first few weeks (especially in the mornings).
The citalopram did it for me also and I had to switch to lexapro.

they take time to work and i think morning anxiety is the last symptom to go away- stability takes 12 weeks plus on the right dose so just keep in touch with your doctor and try to be patient i know its hard but you will feel better again , take care

You could have made that clearer. I got the impression you were having unpleasant adverse side effects

its been one rough night tonight, I think one of the worst things with anxiety is dealing with the excessive thoughts .

plus I have a damn headache…

has dr offered you a med to help the anxiety till you get through? It may help.

yeah, I’ve been taking .25mg xanax twice a day.

I would listen to your psychiatrist because he/she studied more about mental illness.
