Sharp knee pain but mostly only when kneeling

hi all I've done a lot of kneeling over the last weekend and then started to feel like when i knelt down even on soft surfaces, i was kneeling on something sharp even though I wasn't. i sometimes also feel it if i brush past it with my clothes or if i turn over in bed. it's strange that if i try to cause the pain i can't unless i kneel. no swelling. no bruising and no issues walking or anything. any ideas what this is? I've read about bursitis but that seems to suggest selling as well. i can't take anti inflammatory medication due to having spinal surgery in April for some reason so anything else i could do? cheers, Marc

anyone?

Hi Marc, no answers but I have something very similar. Have creaky, painful knees anyway, but this was different - sharp pain in one knee, firstly in the front as I knelt and then excrutiating, sharp pain at the outside. Even kneeling on soft surface was the same. Also a weird sensation if I brushed up against anything - not in the knee itself but below the knee, perhaps at the top of the tibia or fibula? I stopped kneeling and over 2 months it does seem to have eased off. I would be most nterested to know what what the problems was
