I have been using the dead slow reduction, and have been fine,but in the last hour have been getting sharp pain in right eye , is this just because of the reduction down from 10 to 9, and should i expect this when reducing.
When I was first diagnosed I started out with 20mg pred. I eventually
got down to 4mg per day. Unfortunately had a bad attack of
sciatica and my sed rate went back up so had to increase pred
back up to l7mg......anyhow I've never had any eye pain when
reducing. This disease seems to have a very large number of
side effects and not everyone has them all
Margaret, have you been out in today's strong winds? If it is intermittent sharp, stabbing-type pain, it could be a bit of neuralgia caused by the wind, and something that I experience through the side of my face and my eye if I venture out in strong winds without a hood.
Hi MrsO, no i have been inside nearly all day at my craft class,and just walked through the car park.
But its something i not had before, my face did feel funny befo0re and it felt as if the nerves in my face was affected. Thank you.

Hi Margaret. I get this now and again. It's like someone jabbed your eye with a needle. I mentioned it to my optician and he said it is caused by eye strain when you've been focussing on something for any length of time. I just mention it because you say you were at craft class before it happened and this would fit the bill. it wears off if I sit with my eyes closed for a few minutes. Hopes this helps. Prednisolone can give you very sensitive teeth after a while, and make your jaw a bit sore...this can effect nerves that feel as if they go through the area of the eyes. Cold weather, cold drinks and other things can cause sharp pain feelings. I think you have to weigh up the niggling side effects... of which there are very many. Come to the realisation that without the prednisolone you will probably be bed or chair bound for many hours in the day, in great discomfort and muscular pain and generally unable to function in any normal way. A few twinges and odd niggles are to be put up with... in my case with gratitude. Without Prednisolone I would not be able to work ocassionally, I would not be able to look after my sick husband with Primary Progressive MS, I would not be able to pay my rent... I would be evicted... my husband of 48 years would be removed to care ? I would be stuck in some bedsit in a sink area with no hope of an independant life.....Although PMR has taken 2 years out of my good career and company and ruined any hope of my future independance from that... I can at least adapt. I have no complaints and refuse to let this get me down.

Hi Christine, i refuse to let this get to me now!, but as i am relativly new at this game, and we have to be sure regarding GCA i was only asking if anybody else had , I count myself very lucky compared to some of you.
