Sharp pain in left side of jaw for 3 weeks. Hurts when I chew.

The last few weeks I have been getting a sharp pain in the left side of my jar. It eventually gets better so I can finish eating the food I started. Never experienced before but have had clicking. I thought it could be TMJ but I do not grind my teeth either. Anyone have anything similar? Thank you.

What type of arthritis have you?  I’ve heard of pain in jaw with GCA but not with arthritis.

I had Polymyalgia for eight years altogether and was made aware by my GP that I must be watchful re pain in the jaw because of the possibility of GCA which is a threat to eyesight.

I went in a panic the day I jaw and headache and the young doctor I saw called in an older colleague for a second opinion.  He said that, as there was no sign of claudication and he could feel a strong temporal artery pulse there was no need to worry but that I was right to be watchful.

I think if I were you I'd ask for a check just to be sure though, of course,  there are many there reason for jaw ache and clicking.

It took ages to get diagnosed. My pain is and has been in my ear and apparently that’s TMJ, don’t grind my teeth either. If your jaw hurts when you eat you might want to try you ur dentist before an ENT doc. Good luck
