I will try to keep it simple.
I suffer from chronic prostatitis. For me it is most likely caused by my bladder neck being a bit too tight - this was partially shown with invasive tests but was no conclusive.
I am 35 and take .4mg of Flomax daily. i have taken it for around 18 months now. It has improved my quailty of life by around 65%. Its very much worth it and I am happy to take it.
My symptoms are the same as a male with an enlarged prostate. My Qmax was 12ml/s at one point. I have been told that I am good responder to alpha blockers as my Qmax is now 21ml/s which I am happy with.
I rarely ejaculate anymore but I knew this would most likely happen. I do not really care as the other option is a cut into my bladder neck which would cause permanent RE.
The one negative thing for me is, sometimes - I will have a quick sharp stabbing pain when i do ejaculate. There does seem to be a pattern. It happens when the Flomax is at its weakest and some ejaculate tries to get out. I am sure the pain is coming from the prostate itself. Maybe it is the build-up of semen in the ducts but due to the Flomax causing the muscles to be unable to contract properly, it causes a build up of pressure or maybe pressure on the nerves in the area.
Has anyone else experienced this sharp pain? it only happens every so often. I’ve been told it is nothing to worry about but would be interested to hear others experiences.
