sharp Pains under ribs and feeling clammy several hours after food?

Hi,

I have just joined the group to try and find some help on my symptoms and what can possible be causing it.  Here are my problems:

Feeling very tired all the time

Pain underneath bottom ribs  (both sides)

Bouts of constiaption, and then very loose stools and diarrhea for several days and several times a day, sometimes with blood

mid to lower back pain and dull aches

pain dull ache upper left chest close to armpit

numbness running down arm to small finger (constant)

The pain under my ribs usually comes on suddenly and I can't pinpoint it, except that it seems to come on roughly 4-6 hours after eating???

I have been to the doctors and he examined me, pressed under right rib, and when I breathed in, pressed and felt a very, very sharp pain under left rib which was very strange as he had pressed on right side???

All bloods came back ok, but slightly high cholesterol and slightly high LFT.

GP has written to hospital to have an endoscopy, ECG and ultrasound and just awaiting to get my appointments through.

Has anyone else had these symptoms????

All I can find out is about bowel cancer, IBS, Gallstones, Spleen and pancreatic cancer.

I don't have any weight loss but stomach is always bloated and I suffer with bad acid reflux.

Any help greatly appreciated!  Thank you for your time in reading this.

Yes to all of this. I was diagnosed with an auto immune disease 12 years ago and get all of that. No blood tests sadly for it. I was diagnosed after being referred to a rheumatologist.

I had symptoms for years as you describe. Had diagnosis of IBS. Ended up in hospital with chest pain and fever. They tried to treat me for asthma continually which I didn't have. Nightmares and so hard to get a diagnosis if that is what you have.

I have experienced two conditions associated with auto immune disease awhich cause the chest pain. Costochondritis was one and the other was pericarditis. Have a look at those. Very hard to diagnose. Totally sympathise. I don't as it happens, have irritable bowel. With treatment for the underlying disease all of those symptoms have gone. x

Crikey, didn't know all of that would be from an immune disease but thankful to you for making me feel sane - every time I go to the docs I feel I am wasting their time as don't really get any answers which is frustrating when you are suffering.

yes I know the feeling....used to go and explain to them what was going on for me and they were just at a loss. You think they have all the answers but sadly they don't. Much better these days with treatment. The problem is that a lot of docs don't understand these conditions - again if you have something like that. Might be useful to ask them to check your inflammatory markers and ask directly about auto immune disease.  If anything just to rule it out would be useful. But problem is blood tests are only indicators really and you need specialist help to rule it out. Hope you get some answers soon. x

So sorry you are having these problems.  Like many of us, just up overwhelms the doctors.  Due to the chest pain and numbness, did your doctor at least do an EKG?  Glad he ordered some tests esp the endiscopy.  At least a place to start and hope you can get it done soon.  The back discomfort can be caused by constipation.  Did the doctor give you anything for the reflux?  If not, ask for something.  Try using Gas X and see if that helps.  Good luck

What does your GP say?
