Shaved my legs on my own! Ya Whoo

81 days post op TRHR and I shaved my legs and cut my toe nails all by myself!!!!  Well, to be honest, there are patches of hair near my ankles that I couldn't reach, but who cares!!!!    My socks will hide that!!!  The feeling is awesome!!!  I also noticed the past few days I am able to walk down the 16 stairs with more ease......  Ahhhh....  It's really  getting better!!!  I'm so happy!

Well done x

i managed to shave mine today as well!

Fantastic news!!!  Congrats!!

Great, well done, happy days for you.  Ps...thank goodness .am happy to keep my hairy legs as what you lasses do.....looks more painfull than my TLHR

Well done!

And while I have several goals...like Kev I'm not planning to shave my legs!

Ginny, at 81 days do u still use the bannister....I'm more comfy on stairs now, but hold bannister tight!

Outside...are you stick or crutch free now? How far can u walk? TY.

Hi Ginny,

From your 81 days post hip op experience, may I ask what 3 main things to do and 3 main do nots, to reach your successful stage. There is an awefull lot of great advice but just enquiring if you can pick out what you felt was so important.

thankyou and regards.

Kev

Hi Kevin , I am ten weeks post op on Thursday and have had to care for myself and my 94 year old dad .

the most important things for me have been ,

resting

walking and excercises

determination to be able to do things for myself while following hospital advice.

Fantastic, well done Ginny! So pleased for you

Linnet x

thank you linnet!!!

Thank you Mary!!!

 Well done, ginny.

I'm going to look like a grizzly bear just out of hibernation before much longer 😳

Thank yo Mic!!!  Yes, I still hold on to bannister while going down and i dont hold on as tight as i used to.  Going up, i try not to hold on at all.  I have not been able to do it all the way up, but i would say I'm half way there!!!  I have not used my cane in 3 weeks now.  I havn't measured distance in walking.  If i had to guess it would probably be about a half mile.  I do have to take breaks though, I'm not trying to win a race...lol  How many days/weeks are you post op mic?

Hi Kevin, My 3 Do's would have to be:

1) Rest

2) When walking with or without a cane: Posture is very important for limp to go away or improve and heal to toe rule.  I used to say it over and over!!  "Stand up straight, heal to toe, and "feel" the ground.  My sister would always say to me, "who are you talking to?"  lol

3) Drink plenty of water

Don'ts

1) Don't ever bend over

2) Don't over-do it.  People think that in their recovery they need to do a lot to get better.  This isn't necessarily true.  While it is important to exercise daily, your muscles need to rest inbetween.

3) Don't drop your grabber if you havn't got another grabber to pick up the first grabber!!!  Put a string around that thing!!!  lol

Thank you Ali,

How far in recovery are you?  My sister shaved my legs first week of February, so they were not that bad!!!  lol

YAY YOU!!!!! I can use my grabber to shave but sure look forward to cutting my toenails!

Isn't amazing how major surgery can give one such a different perspective on life? How small taken for granted things in life now step to the forefront of delight?

CONGRATULATIONS! Thank you for sharing Ginny!

Hi Ginny , as I have a limp perhaps you could tell me what you were told about posture?

physio said my muscles are very weak

thanks

Mary

Quite right Dawn , it helps us realise how difficult it is for people with permanent disabilitiesdisabilities

Sorry disabilities.

all the best

Mary

I'm 5 weeks on Wednesday, ginny. I'm lucky in a way being fair haired so they don't show very much but I'm suffering with very dry skin too. I'm wondering if that could be the aspirin I'm taking as I don't usually suffer with dry skin.

I'm thinking that between my legs and my pussy cat moulting we might be able to fill a duvet lol ☺️
