Shaving legs after hip operation

Ok ladies (and any special gents) how do yo shave your legs if you can't bend over managed every where but front of leg

I was wondering the same 🤔. I usually use an epilater 😭. Thinking I'm going to have to get other half to do them. Even doing unoperated leg I would be twisting. Hope someone has some answers !

I went and had them waxed. I stood whilst it was done.

Attach the device (shaver / epilater) to a stick with sticky tape?   I don't think there are any long handled ones about.

Either that, or get a good friend to help.

I have a lovely sister and good friend who do mine for me......they wahs my lower legs and change my TEDs for me too! How lucky am i?! 😁

Didn't. However had a pedicurist who specializes in medical pedicures come in.

Use good 3m electric tape and attach razer tightly to 3-4 foot long stick. I have a similar problem, I'm  a 40 year old dirty contractor type guy with constant athletes foot. I am now 10 day post op on right THR, I had to make a 90 degree scrub brush to get to my toes in the shower. Then both my kids 5 and 8 love spraying my toes after shower. A little family fun with crippled Dad

I am actually using one of my shop truck scrub brushes to wash legs, they have soft bristles not to hurt paint on cars, but have a 4 foot long pole! My legs have never felt so clean! Even after I heel I might keep this in the shower and just be lazy.

No bending over needed at all.

I sat on my stool and put foot up on a step stool. Wasn't easy but the front looked good. Then when I could lift my leg up more, used to put it on the loo seat and shaved  them x

I have very light thin hair and thus have not done mine since the surgery. I used to do from knee down. but my doctor told me in his 20 years of doing knee and hip replacements the only dislocation he had was a lady shaving her legs in the shower. I guess she had them angled weird to do it and dislocated, so be careful folks.

Have been waiting for an answer to this! Was thinking about trying to tape epilater to long handled shoe horn. X

Using a long handle and taping something to use to it might be a good compromise just don't twist to your side much, that is the most dangerous position. My doctor said when I bend to always bend down between my legs, never to the side. I did use duct tape to tape a cat litter scoop to an old cane I no longer used and it works great for cleaning cat litter. My restrictions have been lifted but am still using it to be extra safe,

We have to be inventive sometimes,

My wife just mentioned, that she uses the cream nair???? stuff, and that my leg brush I use could easily apply it then rinse off in shower.

Hi Ann, I just didn't shave until around 4 weeks post op , didn't have to really go out anywhere so wasn't a problem ...now at 9 weeks it's a breeze ...sounds like you have some prettt good suggestions here though , good luck

I didn't for 90 days - and it was amazing. Not sure I could have done it in the summer though.

Thank you all for your replies. I did have them waxed but can't always get an appointment. So with all your suggestions in mind I tried taping my razor to long handled brush worked Hurrah now if we could just have some Sun could get my legs out

You can buy off amazon the extended stick but expensive

Surely you have husbands or partners. My wife used to do everything for me when I couldn't bend and I would happily do the same.

No husband, partner or friend to do these things could hire a Gigli tho lol

managed everything else by myself except the garden could ask him but might be embarrassed!

That would work I have a very long handled sponge actually it has changeable heads for brush and pumice stone don't know why I hadn't thought of using it before.

Hi Ann, I've no husband or partner either, so if you find a gigolo please send me his phone number!!! X
