Hi Shaz, what you are feeling is natural, I was 61 when I had my hysterectomy and I felt exactly the same, talking to the ladies on here helped me tremendously, we have all been where you are now.

Your apprehension is very normal and I can empathise. You do not mention if you are on HRT. I suggest that you get as fit as possible pre-op. Do talk to the gynaecologist about your concerns and ask about what will happen post-op if HRT is not already in your plan as the removal of ovaries will impact on how you feel. I suggest ensuring that you follow the post-op instructions for looking after yourself. I had a total hysterectomy in May and all went smoothly. I just felt very tired for awhile. If you are working then take the time off that you need - be guided by your body and what you feel because everyone has a different experience. All the best. Lyn
My op was 3 years ago next week I think, I don't know where the time went, you will be fine I'm sure, waiting is always the worst part, I wanted to run away and forget it was happening but I almost bled to death so that wasn't a good idea 😊, I have been very lucky, I had no pain after surgery, never needed any pain relief either in hospital or when I got home, I wish for the same experience for you.
