I had shingles. 2years ago and stillget pain and iching its worse at night can anyone help

May I ask how old you are and where the pain and itching are located?

Has your Physician prescribed anything for the pain or itching and has anything helped you?

Do you have any serious diseases?

Hi Suzy. Sounds like PHN, a common residual effect caused by shingles. Amitriptyline in low 10 mg dose helps if it's just mild pain and itching. Also a dosage of 25 mg for moderate to severe pain, taken nightly. Best if taken a night to avoid the sluggish feeling during the day. The amitriptyline works better for me than Tylenol or Ibuprofen, that doesn't work at all, and doesn't dope me up like many other rx pain meds do. Hope you feel better.
