Please help. I need to adjust my thyroid supplement therapy. I won't be able to see any of my doctors (GP, gynecologist, endocrynologist) for at least a month. Waiting list is that long.
I have PCOS and Hashimoto (treated with T4 and T3). My periods have been regular (between 28 and 35 days) since I was 12. However, this month I had my period barely three weeks after the last one. It usually lasts for about 5 days, however today's my 7th day and it doesn't look as if it's going to stop. I've seen my gynecologist twice this august, and all the results were fine.
It's certanly due to overmedication. My endo increased the dosage of my medication 4 months ago. Since then, I tested my TSH and got bad result - 0,1.
She has decreased my dose since, but the result remains the same - 0,1. I'm aware that I need professional help, but I must do something. I can't continue my therapy like this. Any advice on how to decrease the dosage from 50 mg levothyrox (T3) and 50 mg euthyral (T4 and T3) would save me.
Thank you.
Hi Masha,
I know nothing about thyroid medication only the symptoms symptoms. I am replying to suggest you ring your GP reception and ask for a telephone consultation with your doc. As your doc would obviously know about your case they would not have to see you face to face. Perhaps they cold advise you, on the telephone, about what you should do regarding your medication.
My doctors surgery will always give a telephone consultation if there is no
examinationto carry out and they know about the case already. Hope this helps....best wishes.
Your TSH indicates you are hyperactive but what are your values for Free T3 and Free T4? There is another girl on this Board who has both Hashimotos and Graves and posted what she does and it works for her. I think her name was Fern. I don't think she has PCOS though. I have a cousin who has PCOS and has difficulty with infrequent periods. I went with her to her appointments and asked the doc for Prometrium instead of Provera. So she takes this 5 days a month and has a period. She tolerates this well because Prometrium is a natural progesterone that is the same as the body makes. It would appear that the only adjustment you could make is to take a little less thyroid replacement homrone.
Thank you for your reply.
I tried, but I live in France and they insist on seeing you. Even if it means that you have to wait. I'll try to convince them that it is urgent. Btw, I really think it is. My TSH is so low.
Thank you Lidna,
I'll look it up. I had no idea I could have both. My T3 and T4 are in the normal range. I was wondering how this could be.
I've decided to take one medication every other day (Levothyrox on Monday, Euthyral on Tuesday...) until I get to see my doctor. I was once on this regime, but then it was changed. They increased my dosage because I kept having hypothyroid symptomes (codl hands, constipation...).
