Over the past few weeks I have been dealing with intense health anxiety. I got checked by a doctor (EKG/ECG, Bloodwork) who said I was fine despite my heart palpitations. I have also had slight chest pain (left and right) left arm pain and back pain that last a few seconds to a a few minutes and as caused me a great deal of anxiety and my dad just thinks it's anxiety. Now I have noticed a shortness of my breath. I don't feel like I can't breath but I get a tingling in my throat and I hear myself breathing through my nose a lot. Please tell me if I should worry or relate
Hi, I can relate. Health anxiety is just terrible. It can become so incredibly overwhelming. I have had all of your symptoms and much more. I still get things from time to time but I can safely say, it is anxiety. When I am more calm and doing what I should be doing I am so much better. My solutions right now have been exercise, magnesium and vitamin D, getting sun everyday or at least being outside, epsom salt baths, reduced caffeine, and most importantly, talking to people who know about these things. Being open and honest. Learning to let go of whatever you are holding on to... its a process but you can do it! Just keep trying new things and if something works, keep it up ![]()
I can relate! I have terrible health anxiety and I am a huge hypochondriac! I currently have diagnosed myself with a brain tumor because my vision seems to be a bit blurry. Yup, it’s awful! I feel your pain! I have had all the symptoms you have from the chest pain to the arm pain, numbness and tingling of my extremedies, shortness of breath, jitteriness, feeling detached from reality, I could go on and on. I have had 2 EKGs, 3 chest X-rays, numerous blood tests, all of which have come back fine. The heart palpitations are scary so my PCP gave me Propanolol which is a beat blocker and it slows my heart rate down when it’s above 100. It has really helped! I also purchased a pulse ox from Walgreens to get my O2 levels when I feel short of breath. It helps to see that my blood O2 saturation is 98-99% when I’m feeling like I can’t breath because it means that my body is getting enough oxygen and my anxiety is to blame. This puts my mind at ease. Try it and see if it helps you. I wish I had better advice but just know that you are not alone!
