Should expect prostate scab come off and when on avg?

58 yrs old in Texas. 3 weeks out from bipolar TURP. Prostate was 85 grams & 20% was removed. Doing good so far - a little better every day. first week was tough. Great flow. Not much blood in urine since week 2. Now on day 21 having more blood. assuming this is due to either slightly more active day prior or scab about to come off. Small pieces of what I assume was scab had been in urine since week 2. those were not dark like the blood clots that came out week 1. Question: Should I expect scab to come off and if so, what would be avg time window?

I am almost 2 years post-TURP so my memory may be faulty but I'd say you are at the point where scabs will be coming off with a temporary increase in blood in the urine each time one falls off. I actually felt a couple of them as they were expelled.

thanks for the reply. do you remember approximate size and any troubles passing?

They were quite small and always came out in the stream without any trouble.

I had a bipolar TURP about 3 months ago and I remember seeing clots from around the 2-3 week mark. They were small, no problem passing them, and they looked like the scabs we got on our knees when we were kids. I passed them here and there for probably up to 2 months after the procedure. I never really got much blood tho when the scabs were falling off. Btw, even tho we tend to get back to normal after a few months my urologist told me last week that if she were to do a cystoscopy on me right now that it would still look pretty raw. My point being that it takes a while for the prostate to heal up after a TURP and if one were to do a urinalysis regularly after a TURP that it would show microscopic amounts of blood for several months.
