On day 6, this is what my wound dressing looks like. Anyone else had similar colouring on their dressing after hip replacement surgery?

nocheck it out
I’m actually surprised they put a “second skin” type covering over the gauze, but not every doctor does the same thing. yes, you might want to have it looked at.
HI Brigid. im 10 days post op. my dressing still looks fresh. if it were me, i would get it checked. just to be safe. it may be something the professionals can fix easily. all the best. kay.
Hi,
Ive just had mine removed two week post op and mine kept white the whole time even though the surgeon used iodine on my leg, or I had a spray tan. I would give a call to the hospital. Hope all goes OK ![]()

Yes. It’s iodine that they wash your leg with before they start to operate Don’t worry.
i agree re iodine stains
day 6 though would dressing be coming off in a few days? are your stitches the disolvable ones? just peel back fro the top a few centimetrs to check and see how it looks x
It does not look very healthy. I had a shower the day after op as the dressing is waterproof, the next day it was changed before I went home as the nurse seemed to want a look at it, the dressing was clear. District nurse changed it 4 or 5 days later still clear, then taken off for good the following week. As we have a walk in shower, I was showering without a problem.
Good idea to have ti checked out. You will feel better.
I had similar dressings for my three hip operations, discolouring looks like blood and iodine to me (I had a leaking wound after surgery), but get it checked if in ANY doubt.
Best wishes
Graham
it needs a fresh dressing on, call your surgeon
