I'm booked to have a hysterectomy in Aug (recurring fibroids) my OBGYN says that a second embolization procedure would not be recommended. I had an embolization in 2006 and a myometomy in 2001. I'm almost 46. I thought that once I had a hysterectomy that left ovaries intact I would not have early menopause. But having researched it it seems 1in3 women have early menopause even when ovaries left intact. Has anyone else had a second embolization procedure? I cannot understand why Dr saying it's not recommended
Hi Rachel,
I haven't had a 2nd embolisation procedure but I did have a full hysterectomy in Dec 2013, Ovaries, Womb and Cervix all removed (Cervix taken due to the position of one of my many fibroids).
I can honestly say that having my hysterectomy was the best thing I ever did. I am 45 now, 44 at the time of my op, and I was apprehensive and reluctant to accept this as an option at first BUT the symptoms and discomfort I was getting from my fibroids was so severe that in the end I agreed and I haven't looked back.
I went on to HRT approximately 8 week post op and I feel great. Everyone is commenting on how much better I look and I feel it too.
Hi, thanks for your reply, I've decided to have another embolization having consulted my radiologist who says a hysterectomy not necessary ...good to hear how well you are doing, seems like you made the right choice. Good luck
I was unable to get a hysterectomy or ablation or use hormones due to other medical conditions. My pain and bleeding put me in the hospital several times. I would get a unit of blood and be sent home to hopefully recover -- but I never really did. I tried all sorts of herbs -- some helped. But look up US patent 20120115905. This stuff completely got rid of my fibroids -- and many of my other health conditions cleared up too. They were all related to oxidative stress -- and no one told me that -- unbelievable. And I now have a 5 day small bleed period. I can not ever remember having that -- ever in my life. I have always been riddled with pain and bloating.
