Should I come off HRT after 8 months

Remains a Dilemma for me. In Meno range with FSh/Lh in May 2013, and went on Femoston 1/10 Feb 2014 then accidental break 2 weeks on holiday.  Felt fine but resumed on my return and it did not seem to work.  I got very stressed and dr put me on 2/10. Still did not work and now in sequi Evorel 50 patches.

Have had low mood and insomnia since this time and am now wondering if I should not have resumed hrt on return from holiday as perhaps my own hormones were stabilising, OR if my hormones took a big slump. Not great on last 2 weeks of patch and now on 2nd 4-week run with oestrogen patch.

I would love to be brave and wean off HRT to see if anything improves as part of me has not been truly convinced by HRT for me for next 5 years till normal meno age! but very nervous in case things get worse, but I would really rather know when I have my last period. Never suffered from hot sweats at all, but low mood and slightly dry vag, which has improved the latter.  Hope this makes sense and would love bit of advice from the helpful ladies on this forum please. Cheers KL x

Hi, very difficult to advise because everyone is different and has different hormone levels. My current GP (female) has said the benefits of HRT far outweigh the downsides so that's good from my point of view and I will keep taking it. I am on a very low dose and could perhaps do with a little higher but at 62 I don't want to stop taking it. My periods stopped whilst I was on Tibolone, I have tried Femoston but am now on Premique. I am more nervous about stopping it!

Thanks S. I do take your point there.  I note this HRT group is very small and I meant to put it into the more general Menopause group. I am new to site so not sure how I do this to save retyping the whole thing again. Any ideas? KLx

Just do a cut and paste into the other site rather than type all over again.

Thanks. I was on iPad and hadn't used cut and paste but have just done that now. Cheers KLx

I am new to this "Menopause" thing. Just found out two wks ago my fsh level is 111.8 My ob/gyn's # goes to 125. So starting menopause at 46 suddenly.  Naturally.  No period for 3 mnths now. Major symptoms. No sweating or hot flashes. Just physically an mentally.  Crying, mad, depressed, angry, moody, joints hurts especially knees, headaches, flu-like symptoms, dry skin, hair fallin out more, fatigue!!!, insomnia.  Also, slow tapering off Clonazepam a anti-anxiety drug since Sept. That is hell by itself. Then add menopause symptoms.  I'm crazy menopause woman! I'm n medical field since 18 an been doin research on HRT. Decided to do bio-identical hormone replacement therapy.  Just mailed off test tube of my saliva to lab. They will check hormone levels with that. Then compounding pharmacist will call me an go over results then Gyn Dr will write rx for compounding pharmacist to make cream or vaginal suppository.  I didn't want a "one size fits all" synthetic pill or cream. Everyone has their own hormone levels. Bio-identical is more like my own hormones.  I'm in the U.S. Has anyone done this type of HRT??
