So on Sept. 4, I was walking out towards the bushes to get a basketball and as I had my back turned around, I felt something swoop over my right arm. I didn’t see what it was, but this happened at 8PM andthe bat usually came out at 11PM. There was only one bat, but it would fly outside my house towards the neighborhood lights to catch bugs every night from June to early September this year. It stopped showing up around the time Hurricane Florence hit and I haven’t seen it since (it likely migrated). I just got finished talking to a doctor and he said that since it happened 5 weeks ago and I didn’t know it was a bat, je’s unsure if I should get the treatment. But he said if it WAS a bat, that would be considered an exposure and I would need to get PEP. I’ve been uncontrollably anxious about diseases as I am a hypochondriac. But this time is a little bit different though. Assuming it was rabid, would getting a shot a month after even work? The bat wasn’t showing any signs of rabies (like flying poorly, being grounded, inside my home, etc.). It was flying fairly well. Should I get PEP?
