Should I get tested for HIV?

hello everyone

so this last saturday (8/28/21) i had unprotected sex and we did anal. i usually have a condom but forgot it this time. i was told they douched and cleaned out and that they were DDF (drug & disease free). i came inside doing anal and then thought about it and got paranoid. when i spoke to the individual about it the following day i was told they were tested for HIV and other STIs 5 months ago and were negative and since that time had only two other partners (both used condoms). on my end i was tested in April 2021 and was negative for everything as well. now however, this girl i really like feels the same and wants to have fun together; but, should i worry and wait to see any symptoms or do you feel im okay to have fun and possibly unprotected sex (vaginal) with her?

last question to this is of you all feel i should be tested how soon could i get s test and have it be accurate? i saw somewhere it was like 2-3 weeks. is that correct?

Hi,
you should always get tested and you should not rely on what other people say. If they have been tested or not, the only thing that matters is that you should be tested.

Regarding the window period, 4 weeks after exposure is 95% accurate, if you take the Hiv1 4th generation test. For Hiv 2 and O you need to wait 3 months for antibodies to show up. I would wait for 3 months / 12 weeks for Hiv1 in your case as well, to be certain.

Buddy has a father of 2 sons I think you are playing with fire. You should always get tested and you should always use a condom. I don’t care if you don’t like wearing them. It is one thing if you are with one women for years then that is up to you both. But what you are doing now is playing Russian Roulette with your life and who ever your doing it with.

Also I hope you do not go from vaginal sex to anal sex. There are so many germ that you can cause her a bad infection and you can get the same thing. I hope you take a shower after and really wash yourself good.

Good luck…Ken

please wait on it. you’re definitely better off being safe than sorry. & if you are clear of all, please always use protection.
