Hi everyone! Thanks for being so nice! My fiance's cousin is having a BBQ later today...it's an hour away....I'm not in as much pain like last week...just not sure if I should go or tell my fiance to go without me....maybe it'll be good to be around people and I think there's a recliner there....I'm not supposed to shave my legs because I'm on a blood thinner...but if I wear shorts I'm gonna shave...I don't want my fiance's cousins dogs to think I'm one of them....so I'm undecided if I should go...I haven't had visitors this 2ND week of recovery..just the therapist....so would u go to the BBQ? Not a bad problem to have, I guess.
Go, enjoy yourself, be careful and take it easy, it will be good for you to get out. Let your fiancé take care of you.

No not a bad problem. I would be more concerned with getting in and out of vehicle and sitting for an hour drive. Bigger car or even truck can be a lot easier to navigate, don't know if you have a choice, at least a test drive would be a good idea. About your other problem, I've been to some events where the dogs were the best company, no offense to your fiance's cousin. -- Dave
Definitely go... im in day 6 and supposed to be going across the road to our neighbours tomorrow night for a drink who are immigrating. Have the same problem as you...hairy legs. Did make me smile.😃 Anyway.. enjoy.. im sure you will have a lovely time.. but as already said just be careful getting in and out of the car.
Hi Joyce, I am also day 13 , you could try the barbecue it might cheer you up, as for shaving legs, I am on blood thinners and this fact was never mentioned to me, not that I do anyway at my age it's all rubbed off!! That's 73, I have just walked right. Round my block of houses with no pain at all, it's nice to have a straight foot I looked like a duck before my op right foot was turned right out to the right. Make sure there is a high enough seat to sit on or take cushions. Best of wishes Ann
Haha...u r right about animals being better company at times. I wish his cousin had cats instead if dogs...I like dogs..just gotta make sure the dogs don't jump on me. I went out yesterday to the dentist in a Ford Taurus...I was OK...it was a short ride...have a great day!

I'll bring a cushion...I wish I had one of those donut hole cushions....I had the posterior procedure...I can't imagine being older and getting this done....I'm 37 and the 1st week was brutal....but I wasn't the strongest and most healthy before the operation .I had to take antibiotics before I went to the dentist yesterday....I'm glad u r doing so well!! Use a dipilitory cream....old fashioned but works. No razor involved. Have fun at the bbq
Hi Joyce if you feel that you can manage it without being to much strain and discomfort it may make you feel better to get out and be with company. If they have a recliner you can sit in and somewhere comfortable for you to rest I don't see what it would hurt. Long as you can take the car ride an hour is quite a while. Have fun. Lol! I had my hubby shave my leg and needless to say he did a terrible job!! 😳😬😆. Going out sounds great! Just listen to your body! I know while in rehab I was waiting with my hubby outside for daughter and grankids to come, thinking we could be outside for awhile. But after wtg for a bit I told my hubby to take me back inside I needed to lay down and stretch my leg out. I'm non weight bearing and having to use a wheelchair. So go have fun but be sure to listen to your body if you feel any discomfort. Hugs, 🤗🤗 LD

Well, I finally shaved! I feel a bit human again! Lol. It was a bit tough to shave cuz I'm not supposed to bend a certain way.....I guess I broke the rules but it had to be done! Don't follow my advice though! I also had to clean the litter box myself ..I can't rely on my fiance to change it...the litter box is next to where I sleep and I can't open a window cuz the a/c unit is in it..he cleaned it a few times but that's not enough! I pray the car starts and we don't have to take the van! At least I can come on here later if the BBQ is biting...thank u for the comments! Xoxo
I say go for it but my only thought is how will you use the toilet since i doubt they have a toilet raiser? Also shouldnt you be wearing ted stocking? 😂
That's a great point...I didn't even think about that...I just mentioned that to my fiance..he said he'd help me go to the bathroom...but how would he elevate me off the toilet...I should bring my raised toilet seat with me but I feel very weird doing so....if I had a party I wouldn't care if someone brought a raised toilet seat with them..the hospital didn't give me those stockings to go home with...I didn't even have a walker or cane..I had to borrow my neighbors.
Hi Joyce don't worry about the drive I had 40 min drive on day 2 after op when got discharged from hospital to get home and was fine go and enjoy yourself
