So last year (July 2019) I had oral sex for the first time with a ex boyfriend & he had herpes type one but no sores or outbreaks present during that time, he claimed to me he was asymptomatic of it. Anyways, I waited a long time then finally went to the doctor in March 2020 to request a blood test for herpes. Got the call back and my results were negative. Should I stop worrying if it was negative? I hear some people on here saying that an active sore HAS to be present or else the blood test will just be negative and I could still be a carrier. . .
Usually within 1-2 weeks you would’ve noticed symptoms such as flu like symptoms, bumps, sores etc. I wouldn’t stress over it especially if you were tested negative, and are showing no symptoms. Maybe, if it’s still something you’re curious about, see if you can get another test ran!
Best regards!
From what I’ve heard it usually takes 3-6 months for it to show up on a blood test, and since you waited so long- which is good, some people take blood tests within 2 weeks from exposure- I’m sure this is a accurate result.
The blood test isn’t super accurate, but if your ex boyfriend says he had no symptoms and you haven’t had any symptoms, should be OK I would think
