Should I take birth control pill if I don't have any symptoms?

Hi all, I had an emergency surgery in 1996, when one of the cyst burst. Then I was on marvelon birth control pill for about 10 year. I stopped it around 2007. Since then, my period pain was very acceptable, till now, with proper exercise and diet, the pain during period is very minimum now, only a bit discomfort for the first 2 hours.

An ultrasound in Nov 2017 found there are 4cm and 3cm cyst on the right ovary. OB suggested me to start birth control pill right away to prevent it from growing bigger. However, I was very hesitant, because i don't have any symptoms. (I am not trying to have kids either.)

So just wondering, what are your thoughts.

No i wouldnt though i would try getting ultrasounds every 2 months until the cyst disappear or shrink. I would try alternatives i heard castor oil packing works great for ovarian cyst. Bc can be a good thing but it takes a while for your period to return to normal if it changes your period. Idk i wouldnt mess with anything that can screw up my cycle i been on bc since i was 18 and totally regret it. But thats my personal experience. I would def ask friends or family what they think

Thanks so much Erika, that's exactly what I thought. Doc's point is don't wait till I start to experience pain.

Well i would try castor oil packing first if it fails i guess you could give bc a try. Just make sure to read the side effects and never miss a pill. Because one missed pill sent my period off. It wouldnt stop-.-.
