Shoulder and trapezius pain. Help !

Hello everyone.

I`ve had ongoing shoulder problems resulting in chronic pain. I`ve had two operations to my right shoulder including a shoulder decompression and needling to remove the calcium deposits. I have these calcium deposits in both shoulders by the way. The first op was August 2011 and the second March 2012. I `ve been through PT as usual but the pain I have is a horrible dull ache in both shoulders and trapezius muscle. Pain killers and anti inflammatories hardly work at all. Does anyone know why I would continue to get pain ? Any help would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks,

James. ( age 33 )

Hi jimmy, I'm afraid this is very common with the ops and condition you have. You may always have a problem in this area.

You need to go back to gp/consultant and have a chat about it all. You may have some nerve/muscle damage from the operations and even from the bone where the deposits were removed.

You probably need different medications if the ones you are taking are not helping the pain. Getting pain meds right is hard sometimes and we need to try a few until we hit on something that actually helps.

There's no point in taking meds that don't work.

My son is also 33 and has had ankle operations (football related!) and is suffering considerable pain from these.

I tell him he's getting old! Ha ha.

Seriousy, get to the gp and see what he/she think. I hope you get some relief soon.

Hello Fanny Jane,

Many thanks for replying to my question.

Ha Ha ! I do feel like I`m getting old already too. Feel more 93 than 33.

I`ve booked to see the doctor next week to discuss my problems. I too thought it might be nerve damage.

Hopefully they will be sort me out soon. Bored of pain now !

Many thanks once again, very much appreciated !

James.

You are very welcome, good luck, Fanny Jane.
