Shoulder pain 18 months after clavicle fracture

I broke my collarbone almost 18 months ago, and after the initial healing period i've had constant pain in my shoulder since. It is mainly across the trapezius, and down towards my shoulder blade. The pain is like toothache, never really subsides but using my arm (washing the car is the worst!) makes it more painful. Sleeping is problematic.

I've been back to the orthopaedics i don't know how many times, and was almost given surgey for clavicle non-union but a last minute x-ray showed up that the clavicle is solid. Since then I've been for an MRI but the results didn't show anything up and I'm now waiting for an appointment with the shoulder specialist in my local hospital.

Anyone else have this kind of experiene, and any tips on how to manage it? The doctor today hinted that I might just have to live with it and hope that it goes away over time.

Martin, The only really good advice I can offer you, is to use a car wash

Thanks, I've tried sleeping there before but they threw me out!

I like you, A sense of humour is a must with these pain in the car wash
