Shout out to propranolol

Just had a massive melt down who els has been prescribed propranolol I'm on 40mg 3 times a day. Anyone els on it and is it any good.

You have been given medication take it, We are all different. Medications may work well for some and for others will need to be changed. However it is important you give your medication time to work. Upwards five weeks, try and stick to the medicine you have been given. You may have various side effects, that seems to be normal

I was prescribed with this and can say that it held me greatly with anxiety.

Amazing what one little tablet can do!

Thanks for the reply. How long did t take to get working, I am struggling latley real bad with anxiety problems, I have so much going on so can't wait to be able to function properly again. What does was u taking. Did it make u get real weird feeling in your chest by Amy chance? Haha or is that just me with new anxiety symptoms 😂😂

Hi Jordan,

I was on propranolol 40mg 3x a day as well. It helped with the massive panic attacks which I am really grateful. Unfortunately, it didn't help me with my anxiety as those pills are beta blockers. they are blocking adrenalin but they will not help you to stop thinking. Every person is different maybe you will not have any problem with it.

I needed to stop them as it was really bad my anxiety was 100% when I was on them and bc my body was kind of sleeping bc of the pills I felt like I am trapped in my head. Weird feeling. Anyway I stopped taking them after 2 months, cold turkey. Well withdrawal symptoms were not really nice but I can tell now my anxiety levels are maybe about 10%. Propranolol is not like antidepressant you don't need to wait 5 weeks. those pills should take effect straight away. well I am not a doctor but it worked for me pretty quick.

I am on propanolol as well as citalopram 40mg and I have found the propanolol has been amazing for my physical side effects to the anxiety. I’m finally starting to eat again after 9 months of only being able to stomach smoothies and milkshakes.

Different meds work better for some than others but I cannot praise propanolol high enough for myself.

I have you have the same effect! ❤️

I feel like it started to work as soon as a couple days and i was on the same dosage as yourself.

Well my pain was already in my chest and it began taking most of it away.

Hi nina. Thank you for the reply. I am giving them a go but like you say, it doesn't help the issue in your head. And Im really struggling at the moment. Last night was a horrendous night for me. Ive just put a new post up on here. I'd like it if you can have a read bcoz it's talking about a new symptom I am getting. Sleep paralysis, have you ever had that whilst on these meds?

Good morning fiona thank you for the reply. Yes am going to give them ago, I am gonna get back to see the docs tho bcoz they don't help me with my problems with anxiety and the way that effects my head.
