Hi Kim.
I asked for one but didn't get one, having said that we have quite a big walk in shower so I just go in on the crutches park them in the corner have my shower and use them again to exit, then give them a quick rub over with the towel.
Works for me!
Good luck
Graham.
Can get them easily of amazon or e bay but other wise i know the ocupational therapist offered to loan me stuff like that
Hi Kim, yes the ocupational therapist supplied me with a stool and a commode as our bathrooms down stairs. Hope you go on ok.
big hugs.
Hi, I'm 3 weeks post new left hip and had severe fainting problems due to excessively low blood pressure, I'm not sure a stool would have helped, I've managed without but my advice would be use your own intuition regarding what you think will help, not only will it give you peace of mind it will also help you feel in control of your situation more. Good luck xx jixipix
hi kim,
I rented one but never used it because shower stall was too small -
In the beginning someone (home health nurse) stayed with me, close by - I needed her too to dry my back and legs ... (I live alone)
I take quick showers and there is a handle I can hold on to if necessary ...
Are you getting excited? it is getting closer and closer ....
big warm hug

Hello!! And welcome!! It's a great place!! If the hospital didn't provide you one then I would think home health will, or should! Good luck!
I never felt I needed one - hospital was a walk-in shower, and even the step into the shower at home was managable (with a helping hand from my wife the first time).

I have fixed a hand grip in the shower just to steady me , I also take one crutch into the shower , to help me in and out, it was easier than I expected

Yes definitely get one, I felt much more confident in the early days on my stool. It allows you to rest and have your hair washed etc, and is there when you suddenly feel tired or need to rest.
Also invest in lots of non slip mats, several if you have a tiled bathroom floor. Even the slightest splash will be a problem for the crutches as the slip quickly with water. My advice would be to put them in the walk in shower as well, so you are nowhere near anything slippery.
Yep - non slip mats are an essential item
