Hey, im Amber, im 18 years old and im always sick. I wish I could send my browsing history here.
"Thyroid cancer, thyroid cancer pressure in neck, lung cancer symptoms, brain cancer symptoms, colon cancer blood in stool, colon cancer symptoms, colon cancer shortness of breath, heart attack at 18, stroke at 18"
This is what I googled in the last WEEK. So i dont have to explain how severe and crippling my health anxiety aka hypochondria is. It feels so weird. Like im in a weird body that all the time feels weird, i feel like I dont want to help myself tho, like im seeking for illnesses, the more severe the better! Honestly im in a state where if someone tells me i have a cold i will start to cry since i will be like NO I HEARD A STORY, ONE WOMAN HAD A COLD AND THEY FOUND OUT ITS LUNG CANCER..
This all started in the beggining of this year.. first vomiting, was actually sick.. I overthinked it to a point where I had to get gastroscopy, I found out nothing is bad.. since then.. heart palpitations, hand pain, chest pain, severe headaches with nausea, ice pick headaches, a week ago i seen blood on my toilet paper which made me cry myself to sleep, today i can feel this intense pressure in my neck, mostly when swallowing, my mom says she things its strep throat since there are some white spots on my tonsils which are huge too, im dizzy.. everyday its something new and im tired. Tired... is there anybody with something similar? I truly believe im sick.. please what can i do? Im too poor for therapy, i live abroad and its very very expensive here
Thank you ❤️❤️❤️
Firstly, I want to say that you aren't alone. There are others who worry a lot about any health symptoms too. I google symptoms I get too as I worry too when I get symptoms all of a sudden which are unexplained. I would suggest that you go to your doctor and get everything checked out that you're worried about to help put your mind at rest. There are many people who get similar symptoms too. Hope you can get some reassurance from a doctor soon. 😉 I'm sure you're ok, anxiety has a lot of worrying symptoms I know. Take care
Hi Amber,
I am sorry for the way you are feeling., Symptoms are very similar and can be many things. My advise is to not look up every system you have. I'm sure you are fine but anxiety can cause a lot ot these symptoms such as being tired and dizzy and muscle pains. If you can try to calm down and not worry. Worry only makes it worse. Hope you start feeling better.
Amber you are not alone in this!
What we have to remember is that the likelyhood of having a serious illness versus bodily sensations caused through anxiety is tiny. Our minds trick us into creating feelings, sensations and pains that are very much real at the time of high anxiety but are not physical.
CBT - cognitive behavioural therapy has been brilliant for me so far. But also what will help is trying to put your phone down when you feel a pain or sensation and try to do something, watch a film, play a game, go for a walk. Challenge the feeling you are having.
If you haven't already then go for a physical checkup the doctors can rule out any physical illnesses so you can believe their diagnosis and really then start to deal with it as such.
The most important thing to remember is that you are not alone! This from a 26 YO male that is also going through this.
Chin up!!
