Sick of being wonky so ordered an Evenup

This LLD is driving me nuts. My knees, pelvis and back are suffering so ive ordered an Evenup, which is a special add on sole for the bottom of one shoe, rather like a crampon. it will add about 3/4" which isnt quite enough but i thought perhaps i could fashion an extra layer to get me as even as possible. im off shopping tomorrow to buy a second pair of shoes for orthotics to butcher and will also buy a pair of crocs to bodge in place of my slippers. the ideal for me is to only be uneven when barefoot which isnt healthy for me so i dont do it often. ill be sad to see my comfy slippers go in the bin but they arent ideal anyway. crocs with liners are much better im told.

Since my stupid fall the other day my left hip has been very sore suggesting that its worse than i thought. never thought id wish for arthritis but i do. if its knackered i wont have to wait so long to get evened up. i think i might buy my surgeon a metre rule before the next op tho, just in case

Do like the last sentence about getting a metre ruler lol😀😀😀

Hi Helen

I think I would also be fed up with uneaven leg length to be honest. I hope it works for you.

I hope the pain is nothing seriouse. But I would say you do need checking out to make sure.

As for the metre rule lol.  Maybe he was working in inches and not cm's on your first leg

Hi Helen, how are you feeling this morning????  I apologize for being so ignorant but LLD? does that stand for leg lenght difference???

I am wonky too and walk like a toddler ... bought orthopedic shoes prior to THR surgery and might have been working against me .. they were sooo expensive for such ugly shoes - had to choose between a flat screen tv or these shoes ... oh well ... I never heard of evenup - I had RTHR 13 weeks ago and need to have Left done - ... I used to love walking barefoot but not anymore (yet) ... hmmm, crocs with lining?  sounds great .... I am very interested what you will buy ....

thanks for sharing -----

Can you go to your doctor and request having your shoes done - you should be able to get some done on the NHS if you are in England.

Hi Helen I was told that there could be a risk of the lengths being different, but if there is a discrepancy than they sort it out when you have the next leg done, Dont worry too much, I know its easy to say because mine are still the same length... I am sure it will all be OK once you have the other one done.

KInd regards  Ian.

im going to orthotics on monday to sort out getting my shoes altered which is why i needed to go shopping today.

yeah i know but initially i was told my other hip isnt too bad yet. after a very uneven walk round town though its feeling very sore so maybe ill get it done sooner than i thought

yes LLD is leg length discrepancy. i have the crocs so will keep you posted :D

Hi again, hope yours will be done soon too, I am off to see the surgeon on Tues next week, for first checkup, and I hope to get him to approve the left leg as I am getting the same deferred pain in my knee now just as I did with the right one, I was so scared I had done my knee in too, but luckily not, but the pain is really bad, too bad to go back to work with and wait 6 months between operations, hope I can get mine done soon as well.....

That sounds like a nightmare to cope with! Good luck with your ingenious bodges, rulers rule - right?

its hell. honestly, everything hurts and i really feel its holding me back recovery wise. Just a walk round town leaves me in agony because im so lobsided. tomorrow is my appointment with the consultant when we will be talking about the other hip and im also seeing orthotics and will hopefully get on with raising my left shoes. with the evenup for non-raised shoes and my bodged croc i should be much better. i hope

I took me almost 10 moths before I felt like I was getting myself rebalanced and that my legs feel the same length. My surgeon told me that they were the same lengthm but if I didn't have faith in him I sure wouldn't have believed him. I did finally get orthotics to help with my tendonitis and correcting that helped alot as well. The orthotic guy backed up my surgeon's claim that my legs were the same length.

Hopefully you're really the same lenght but just feel longer as well and will get back to normal eventually

i have an actual leg length discrepancy of over an inch not a percieved one. Confirmed by both consultant and physio after surgery

hi helen ..good luck today .... looking forward to your up date ....

warm hug

one appointment down, one  to go. orthotics was depressing. they wont do open back walking sandals, they wont do my birkies, they dont like my slip on trainers. so it looks like i somehow have to find a pair of trainers that are comfortable enough for me to live in for the next 10 years. i am so peed off with my life now

Hi Helen, I see you are evening up, how do you do that ?, i have a centimtre difference and been to 2 cobblers who refuse to heighten my shoe without a letter from the hospital, I go for my last appointment on Friday (1 year on)  in fact I have been left to struggle with no real help or aftercare at all, my last appointment 6 months ago to an Arthroplasty practioner was very unhelpful and she pee heed my concern the descepancy I am disgusted I had to take the initative to find lifts online but some shoes are shallow and I almost walk out of some of them with inseted lifts.

Regards May.

i asked my gp for a referral to orthotics. make sure you say its hurting your back/pelvis/knees and you have tried to adjust but it isnt working. say youre worried about wear and tear on other joints (this will cost the nhs more than altering a couple of pairs of shoes).
