We had people round on Monday for a party and i drank vodka and lemonade. I had a sandwich at midnight and as soon as i ate it i could feel it like it was stuck in my gullet and i immediately felt sick. I was up all night being sick, well the first time it was food and then all night after it was orange bile. Does this sound more like gerd or hiatus hernia? All my body feels strained with wretching. And when i wretch it hurts in the same place in my back. This has been going on since the beginning of november.
Hi
only thing to do is go to your gp and ask to have your gallbladder scanned.
That will immediately show if you have gallstones. Then if that comes back fine your gp can by deduction work through all the other possibilities.
Get it sorted I had attacks once a year roughly for 15 years and got fobbed off by my gps with ulcers , gastritus, food poisoning, tummy bugs and stress..
when last year my new gp as I had moved said I think it's gallstones and sent me for the scan a technician doing the scan said my these stones have been growing here years they are like the Alps loads of them...
i was operated on in February 2014 and my life has been normal since food wise ...no pain, no sickness ...
so get to the bottom of it ..it's worth it don't be fobbed off with a preppscription for omeprazole and gaviscon ( for ulcers) get a scan ...xx
I do know i have a gallstone which i have known about for 12 yrs which they found when i was pregnant. I asked my gp about my gallbladder and he just pressed in that area and he said no it's ok and said it was acid reflux and gave me lansrapazole.
Hi
ok ... You can live with gallstones with no problems but for some unknown reason dieting can trigger attacks ...
basically your gallbladder stores bile and concentrates it and amazingly your stomach requests extra bile when you eat fat, rich food , red meat etc...harder to digest food.
So if you have gallstones your stomach requests extra bile cos you ate fatty rich food and your gallbladder contracts sqeezes the bile out sqeezing your gallstones either into your bile duct blocking it so you get sudden colic vomiting attack pain across all your ribs persisting vomiting for hours , pain like your ribs are broken and your intestines are red raw pain in your back too. Then suddenly after 6 or 7 hours it subsides u feel releaved ..I always ended up calling gp who gave me anti sick meds domperidon even and buscopan...
then you are ok because all the vomiting has either dislodged the stone or passed it.
But you can also get an infected sore gallbladder caused by the stones rubbing together when your gallbladder contracts .... Persistent gnawing pain under your right rib and in your back ..
to avoid attacks no fat at all bland boring food like plain steamed fish or chicken, boiled potatoes, rice or pasta boiled veg... Easily digested food then your gallbladder isn't asked for extra bile and your gallbladder settles down ... But once you eat fat again ...or spice or caffeine these all trigger contractions the pain or attacks ..
hope that helps...
Perhaps try the bland diet if it settles demand a scan.
funny I had gastritus acid problems but since my rotting gallbladder got removed I don't have excessive acid anymore ...
Thanks,I have had 2 endoscopys in the last 6 yrs and the first one i had a small hiatus hernia and the second one she said she didn't see it but i had gastritis!! Whatever it is alcohol definitely triggers the nausea and i have the shouder blade/back ache nearly all the time. It hurts my right shoulder/back/neck if i do shoulder rolls or shrug my shoulder so my gp said i migt have 2 things going on acid reflux and something muscular.
Hi Dianne
I to over did with to much on new years eve although I do not drink alcohol or fizzy drinks any more which I would recommend. I had gallbladder out a moth ago and the 4 scars are healing well apart the one the upper chest which I still red and sore but OK I also have a hernia not sure which type but I see the consultant in a months time. I have found to change my diet to fruit fibre and proteins which easy to digest in small portion and also not eat at night.
I hope this helps
Cheers for now:-) :-)
See your doctor!
Use an ice pack to help with the pain and drink lots of water. Eat a low fat diet.
