side effects

Recently started taking Propranolol for anxiety and im getting quite bad side effects from a small dose.

Short of breath.

breathing a little laboured

aches and pains in ribs / lungs

Neck stiffness / pressure.

week / lightheaded

stabbing pain in eyes.

Tinnitus

a little tightness in the middle chest area.

sometimes I feel quite debilitated

symptoms completely gone after a few hours.

oh and the medication causes me to have skipped heart beats where I had none before.

will these side effects get better as I fear I may need to stop taking it.

Its working wonders for the anxiety.

do you have asthma or any other underlying health condition at all that could cause these symptoms?

If I was you I wouldo and speak to your gp so he can take your blood pressure and heart rate to check everything as it should be.   It is best to check because you don't want any of what you are experiencing to get worse.  From my point of view it could just be anxiety adding even more to your symptoms and exasperating them further, if it was me I would go to my gp  and he could put you on an even smaller dose,

Best wishes

what dose are you on?

Hi I agree with Olivia25317...you really need to go back to your GP asap.

I have been on 40mg morning and evening for 2 years, but mine were prescribed as a prevention method for serious migraine.

Apart from the occasional disruption in my sleep pattern i haven't experienced any side effects that you speak about.

I was prescribed a dose of 40mg for heart arrythmias to be taken once a day, in the morning, about 4 weeks ago.  I found it quite debilitating and suffered quite a few if the side effects you mention.  I am now taking 10mg just three times a day and things are a little improved.  However, I still get some of the side effects, tinnitus, shortness of breath, extreme tiredness, dropped beats and, a new one for me, frequent headaches.  When I report this to the GP she just looks mystified.  I think we all react differently to particular drugs and need to work out what dose works for us.  What dose are you taking?

Thanks for the feedback.

will consult with the Gp when I go back.

I have sarcoidosis which can effect the heart but

Mine is fine.
