Hi I went to the Dr a month ago as i was getting intense pressure in my throat and had a sore throat all of the time which has been going on since last December. She told me it may be gord and gave me nexium which really hasn't worked at all. It's not until I googled why isn't nexium working that I stumbled upon people with lerd who also have the same problem.
The thing is I don't know how to manage it? I've been reading about diet and there is such conflicting information. One person suggests alkalised water, another says there are side effects (without saying what they are) some say high fat no carbs, others say low fat and grains and I am at a total loss.
I haven't been able to eat anything without pressure in my throat and a raw feeling that come up to the back of my palate. Exercise exacerbates it (I'm a pilates instructor so I really need to exercise and use my voice). also too much liquid
I kept reading about how the liver, sibo and gut health in general can affect reflux has anyone had experience with this?
I've always had pretty lousy digestion. I had a blood test as a teenager that came up positive for the gene for coeliac but an endoscope came up negative. I was told I had IBS and I basically went through the next ten years just carrying imodium in my handbag. My digestion has actually improved since having kids since I eat a lot better now it's not fantastic, but not at all debilitating, except now for this!
My liver function is also not amazing I have gilberts syndrome which gives me high levels of billirubin and pushed up my oestrogen but I am taking herbs for that.
If anyone can give me any advice I would be eternally grateful. I'm 33, I really thought stuff like this wouldn't creep up unitl after 40.
