So I have been dealing with anxiety and panic spells for 2 years now. It also coincides with what I thought was chronic sinusitis which I have been seeing an ENT for although no standard treatment plans have made a difference. My panic is driven by the congestion I can feel in my sinus. My balance is completely off, I can't breathe through my nose and I just feel hazy, heavy headed and exhausted daily. I am getting all the fever like symptoms with low grade fever, shakes and night sweats badly as well as serve headaches. My sleep quality is beyond poor because of this congestion. I often wake up with swollen red eyes.
My ENT has basically discharged me and said it's not a sinus issues after 14 months of back and forwards to him and referred me to a neurologist because he suspects something else (I have avoided googling what it could be due to excessive health anxiety already). allergies, intolerances etc all ruled out and blood tests show I am fit as a fiddle.
This problem is making everyday miserable though. I have become very low, on the verge of tears constantly and just feel numb. I have stopped planning to do things or look forward to anything because I struggle so much. I barely drive now through tiredness and dizziness and I have left my cycling club (which I loved) simply because of the same reason. I washed my car yesterday and literally had to sit down every 5 seconds through exhaustion and dizziness!. I am only 26!!!
Work is beyond exhausting but I drag myself in because I have a partner to support and a mortgage to pay. They are understanding but I can tell I am pushing their limits. What's weird though my I work wed-Saturday and my symptoms get worse towards Saturday. I am starting to think it was mood related / tiredness catching up but maybe I am allergic to something in work?
I spoke to my doctor last week and literally broke-down on him (poor guy was shocked). This is impacting my life too much for too long and I need some relief.
Whilst he couldn't make any immediate suggestions (offer than referrals which come with a long wait list) he thinks my anxiety has significantly reduced because I am so focused on this new problem and depression could be causing some of the new issues or lack or energy to deal with the problems daily.
He has suggested trying an antidepressant called citalopram.
I really don't know what to do to be honest. I am honestly depressed, my family has said it, I can feel it and my partner is worried for me but I can't get through to people that if I could just get some relief from this constant head pressure, I would perk right up!
Should I try these tablets? I am worrying it's just adding yet more side effects to my body which is already fighting something.
I have that pressure too..I get really bad headaches in the morning. It's feels like pressure in my forehead and my eyes. My eyes feel like they will burst. It wouldn't hurt to get a second opinion from another doctor. Sometimes what one doesn't diagnose another doctor will. They need to check your sinus. I don't what they do to check if you have trouble. I myself haven't checked that out. Lol but they must have a test to see if it is. The thing with doctors is that they're like the mechanics. They don't really know what you have. Everything is a trial and error. They give you pills if they work it means you did have it. They can only go from a list of causes until they find what's causing your symptoms. I hope you find what it is and you get better. .The crying and feeling tired could be caused by depression. I'm not a sentimental person at all and I cry when get a nervous breakdown or when depressed. I feel I've had enough. I hope you get better I see this is affecting everything. It sounds like it's your sinus. You have the pressure, your eyes are bulging red in the morning. Which makes me think is it sinus trouble or a allergy? Red? Mold can cause sinus trouble. Does your work have mold? I was exposed to mold that's why I think I have sinus trouble. Good Luck👍
It's funny you should mention about the mould as I was talking to my partner about it last night. I have recently purchased an old house and done a lot of restoration work on it and mould was a bad issue (It was empty for 10 years plus).
Wonder if I have caught something as I have never suffered with my sinuses?
Exposure to environmental mold can lead to skin irritation, breathing difficulties, allergic reactions and headaches. Mold can be an irritant, causing a burning sensation to the skin, lungs, nose, throat or eyes. It can trigger asthma attacks in people who are allergic, and even non-allergic asthma sufferers may experience worsened symptoms because of exposure to indoor mold. Symptoms of allergic reaction include sneezing, red eyes, runny nose or the appearance of skin rash. The EPA reports that repeated exposure to mold can bring about sensitivity and health problems, so it is important to put an end to mold exposure as soon as possible. If you're currently living inside the home and you're aware it has mold. You need to get out of there or remove the mold. *Mold Cleanup Tips
Moisture is the key to mold growth. Fix any plumbing leaks or other sources of moisture as early on in the process as possible. Dry everything completely.
Use a solution of detergent and water to scrub away mold on hard surfaces.
Drywall, carpet and other porous materials are often irreparable once they are moldy. Throw away and replace these materials.
Wear gloves and goggles and use a respirator to avoid breathing airborne mold. An N-95 respirator, available at most hardware stores for between $12 and $25, is recommended for those performing mold remediation.
Remediation is done when all of the mold is completely removed. There should be no visible mold and no odor of mold. After cleanup, the site or sites should not show signs of moisture accumulation or mold growth. Talk to your GP and tell them your recently bought house has mold and tell them your symptoms. They will refer you to a specialist. Good Luck👍
I understand it may not be easy since you just bought the house but if the mold is making you sick. Your health is important you need to remove it. Prolonged exposure can do more harm. Take Care
The short version my bad. Is to go to your GP tell them about your symptoms and that you were exposed to mold. They will probably refer you to a specialist. Some people even leave their houses and feel better. It might take time though.
