Hi. I am 6 weeks post op tomorrow. Doing light housework, walking without crutches etc. BUT when i sit down i feel like i'm sitting on a golf ball. Had this before LTHR and i just put it down to the arthritis. It seemed to go away for a few weeks after op, but the last few days it has come back. Anyone else had this. x
Yes I think most of us notice it at some point. My own theory for what it is worth is that as the body recovers a lot of the swelling that occurs as a reaction to "injury" reduces. This means that you are more aware of some parts than previously. It does pass. After all 6 weeks is usually considered a body recovery time, post op check ups etc so to some extent protective swelling will diminish for many people round about that time. One of your questions at your checkup perhaps?
I had this and it was a touch of bursitis.... need to massage area with something like ibufon gel, and take anti inflammatories... mine is nearly gone....thank goodness... the whole area is tender but it is the healing process. If it does not clear you may need a steriod injection..... this time 10 days ago I was in agony with it now it is easing.
โGood luck
Elaine
Hi Christine,
Yes I have that and it starts about the same time as yours.Iwonder if we cut down our pain relief at this time so begin to notice it?Mine has improved(I am 11weeks post op) and have read Glucosamine and chondroitin can help so have ordered some.Good luck with your recovery

Yep had it, got the T-Shirt - See my website for common complications and tips, the address is in my personal info here ...

It does subside, but returns now and again, usually when sitting for a long time at work, or on a rough bus, train or aeroplane journey.
Best wishes

Hadn't thought of Elaine's idea of Ibuprofen gel - that sounds like a good substitute for Bio Oil which is usually the recommended massage treatment for the scar area.
Good evening I was recommended this by my physio as it kinder to the skin than many other remedies on the market, which I shall not name. It has been great for me, but it may not suit others. As you correctly say each person is different.
โI had my 84yr old mother telling me that it is about time I collected her and took her out "tats"... normally means walking around shops for items she does not need. She does not like to be downgraded in the attention ranks. Only to get a call this evening that my sister in law took her twice last week..
โAnother one of my challenges is that if good news on 18th we book a holiday somewhere warm where we can relax and recoupe... if not good news then plans will have to change.
Hope you can have a great holiday and 'recharge your batteries'.
Best

Thanks for reply Maggie. Already had check up at 5 weeks, wasn't uncomfortable then.Typical! I do wonder if sitting down so much causes it. I'm usually chasing 2 year old grandson around while mum at work or 1 day a week helping my 84 yr old mum out. Not used to all this sitting around. I do go for walks twice a day and do bits around the house, but there again do need to sit quite a bit. Good luck with your recovery.xx
Hi Janet. Think you could wwell be right about the pain relief.I am not taking any regularly now, only if i really need it. Good luck with your recovery.xx
Thanks for yur reply. Good luck with your recovery.x
Hahaha Elaine, your mum sounds just like my 84 yr old mum. Mine lives a 45 minute drive from me. Tried to drive round our village today, Definately won't be driving to mums for a week or two yet! Hope you manage to get away for a break. Good luck with recovery.xx
They are amazing and I am sure they do not mean to be so demanding.. my mother lives about 15mins away.. i visit regularly but do not feel I could take her shopping in my current situation...
Hi,

Makes sitting for any length of time difficult and lying on my back is uncomfortable.Going to visit my osteopath soon. How long could this take to resolve?Any idea.Anyone else had experience of this so long after the op?
