Six week check , double hipreplacement

Hi all , had my 1st post op check yesterday having had a double hip replacement 7 weeks ago and was very happy to be told I can now drive . I now feel free to go where I want , when I want so went to get new tyres on the car , popped my physio letter in to the hospital and did some shopping . Will have physio next week so I think that should help with some stiffness . So glad now that I had the two done together although it was really hard the first few weeks . It was right in the middle of lambing for us so was not good timimg but my husband and my two teenage daughters had a lot of work between me and the sheep but it's all done now and they coped very well . Any other doubles out there ? Going back to my archery class tonight , might even have a go ! Happy recoveries !!

You brave and lucky person. Me a single hippy at 7 weeks with my 8 week check up next week. Lambing - what fun

Well done Ruth. Enjoy your new found mobility xx

Hi Ruth, so nice to hear that your double hr went so well, I'm having a double hr in 2 weeks. Can't wait to get my life back, it's so hard to walk at the moment I can only walk with crutches.

well done Ruth glad to hear everything has gone well I am also 7 weeks post op  and despite both my hips needing to be done they would not do the two at least I have a date for my second in July, the one thats been done is doing great but the one needing doing is given me great pain thank goodness for morphine, hope you continue to do well with your recovery and don't over do it,

Regards  Ron

Hi Ann , it's been a hard 7 weeks but well worth it . I missed most of lambing but found it frustrating just watching ! Good luck with your check up , take it easy , Ruth

Thanks Christine , great folk on here , so glad I found it !

Hi Kaye , nice to hear from a fellow double , there are 'nt many of us I don't think . It will be great for you , I found the first couple of weeks the hardest but once past that it gets better each day . Please keep us posted I would love to hear how it all goes for you , Ruth

Hi Ron , it's a pity they would;nt do the two for you , I think it depends on your surgeon . By the time you get your other one done your first one should be good so it'll be fine , july will soon come round , all the best , Ruth

Well done Ruth..you farmers are tough cookies.

You must be very fit and healthy to be considered for double THR.

Not many folks are given the option,I had to wait 12 months for my 2nd THR,my surgeon said bi lateral would be too traumatic.

Having great family support is a big bonus..

Hope you continue to make a good recovery, but take it easy for a few months..good luck.

Take care Ruth ... you are doing great !!! very inspirational to read -

Hi Paulus , I have  bit to go yet but well on the way to getting my quality of life back , thankyou , good luck with yours

Thank you renee , all the best
