Hi to all my fine hippies :blush:

I’m just over the 7 week post-op and all going very good, :grin: I’ve got my follow up appointment for December 12th. Just wanted to ask what roughly is done at these follow up checks, :thinking:
Do you have x-ray as a norm, is it just a quick chat and a feel..:roll_eyes::grinning_face:

I did not have an x-ray Pete, I saw one of the surgeons team at six weeks. He asked me to walk to the door of the small office, then asked me to balance on operated leg, looked at my scar and that was that until May 2019 which is my next appointment.

Hi, here in NZ we have an x-ray. a chat about how we are doing, any concerns etc. Told if restrictions are off now and thats it till 1 year mark.

had to walk and show some moves but no xray

I saw the post operative team after 6 weeks which actually consisted of one very nice lady. I was there about ten minutes and I moved my leg about a bit and she looked at my wound, we then had a chat and I left.

i will be going for my 6 week checkup in 2 weeks too! I have to fly to get there. I hope the doctor will be thorough since it requires alot of effort to get there! Good luck Pete!

Sometimes an X-Ray, sometimes not.
Sometimes a check on range of movement of the leg, sometimes not.
Discussion on how it’s going and advice on relaxing restrictions is usual.

I had an x-ray at my 6 week appointment, but I didn’t get to see my surgeon, except for a wave in the distance. I remember waiting for ages, it was very busy. The doctor I saw was very blase, told me I could do pretty much what I wanted. I asked him about skiing at about 8 months post op, and he said it would be absolutely fine. Bumped into my surgeon a couple of months later, and told him I’d booked some skiing, and he looked slightly surprised!

Hi Pete,
hope your are still doing well. I’ve got my appointment on the 7th Dec and was wondering the exact same thing. I was hoping they would get an xray just to check I’ve not moved anything since leaving the hospital. silly I know! Probably won’t though.

I’m doing well at the moment, got my appointment brought forward a little, I’m now in next Tuesday 4th December, just wondering what have ya been moving since ya come home :roll_eyes::grinning_face:
I’m sure like me ya doing fine and dandy, you keeping up on the exercises and walking…

Hi to all my hippie friends…:blush:

Had my follow up appointment today, just over 8 weeks post op, every thing is good and the doc was pleased with my recovery. :grinning_face: He did check my x-ray taken few days after my THR, he says my left hip is not good and needs doing, he has made me another appointment in 2 months, he then will check things out and probably get me in around April/May for my left hip. I’m more than happy with that, I know what to expect this time :roll_eyes::grin: and then I’ll be all set for next 20 yrs lol :grinning_face:

So to all them just heading for your op, things really do turn out ok, I was one of them that thought, oh here we go everything is going to go wrong, why :thinking: why should it yep, so crack on and all will be fine …
