Has anyone had this? I've thinking nerve related as there is no obvious reason - not red, not inflammed.
I'm a bit confused - 11 weeks later and this flares up

Hi
Its only 11 weeks. Ive just passed 17 weeks RTHR and second consultant visit with another follow up at + 6 months.
You will get all sorts of aches, pains and nerve end pings its all part of the healing process.
I should not worry - a lot of us dont realise how major this surgery is and how long it will take for full recovery.

Thanks that's what I thought - thank god for this forum
Yes, mine is the same. It seemed OK up until this week and has suddenly become quite tender again. The scar is already white and there's no inflammation so it must be nerve endings healing. When I go shopping am scared of people bashing into my right side - a couple of weeks ago a lady banged me with her handbag - she didn't mean to but it was quite painful. Also scared of shopping trollies on that side too!
I get quite paranoid about it in the school playground
If its not red nor inflamed or hot you're ok.
that area of your incision will be sensitive until they remove the staples.
i had scab which fell off after my shower for a few days. it's clean now what im getting is itch when i workout.
if you still have concerns talk to your surgeon about it.
Try to rest and relax UR hip. Muscle relaxers , heat treatments.
Sometimes they are over used before they r back in shape. If it's really painful ask UR doc for Physio .They will help within a few sessions
.Also those butt squeezes is the most important exercise of them all and for good reason. It stabilizes UR core and builds up those muscles u sit on all those that support UR whole body.
Hi ..I am a little over 14 weeks post Rt THR and yes still get aches and twinges...Lucky Pete in Glocs... you really do get exc. follow up post op. Not so in Dorset! I have moaned about this before, 6 weeks saw physio ..next check up 12 months from now!!
Physio VERY important and exercises esp. based on Pilates YES core strength, that first to build up that support for hip. I see Physio once a week, I have to pay, but worth every penny; deep massage therapy to work out knots in muscles and to check I am doing exercises correctly and give me new ones to build on what I have. Sometimes it aches more but I think that is occ due to how I have slept .. too long on op side and on non op side, getting and maintaining correct alignment, even with support. I was always a restless sleeper so even with support as I toss and turn knee will drop down and then wake up with a real ache all down from point of hip to knee.
This forum has been a real boon as from it one gets a "sympathetic ear", helpful advice and support, esp,. for those of us who do not have access to post op check ups! BTW in early days for those who do toss and turn and find sleeping on back difficult... I wrapped my duvet around me - like a cocoon- it was comforting, nice to lie on and being cocooned I didn't "toss"... it was womb like!!
Hi vix
when did you have this done with you saying your frightened in the school playground you seem to be only a really young person and if its only 11 weeks since i wouldn't have thought you would be back at school yet you haven't said what you have had done btw it could be a few things are you sitting too long in one certain position??? you need to be on an hard chair if you have had your hip replaced and must be 90dgrees no less.

Just want to say to you I am 14 days post op and let me tell you something my bottom my knee it hurts so bad
It's probably as a result of the odd position they have your leg in during the op and I think they clamp it at the knee and ankle to keep it in position. Try to do your exercises and it should get better over the next couple of weeks. I had swelling all down my leg and bruises on my knee and ankle for about a month but it did resolve eventually. Also keep taking your painkillers to keep on top of the pain, it will help. And don't overdo it! Something we're all guilty of I think.
Take care of yourself and things will get better.

Hi I am like that as well Stella scared of other people banging into me as well x
That's sounds just how I am so it must be the nerve endings, and just like you I thank goodness for this forum there are a lot of lovely people out there with their advice thank you lovely people xx
I am coming up to 11 months. The numbness down the front of my thigh has resolved, but now I notice more numbness over the front of my hip, as the areas change you get different sensations. I have no pain in my hip so I'm happy!
My knee was very painful, and took fully 6 months to settle,as did my swelling. But this time last year I was miserable with pain, and I am so grateful to be free of it.
It can take a full year for our bodies to adjust back to something normal with a lot of symptoms inbetween. It could be nerve pain or it could just be some inflamation. Always reporting uncomfortable changes in your body to your doctor is never a bad idea. We all heal differently and by learning about the extreme positions our bodies are put in during surgery as I have learned from the wonderful peopole on here, it is little wonder that parts of us would rebel at times!
Wishing you the best!
Hi Chrisitne I had it done 27/8/14. I'm 44 I have a 7 year old who I take to school / pick up
Thanks everyone,
It wasn't a muscular ache it was sore skin almost like a graze but nothing to see, anyways it has now resloved after travelling up / accross and affecting my other leg for a while so now I'm definatley thinking nerve pain and possibly something to do with the spinal block.
the random aches soreness pings and clicks from various joints in the area can be very confusing
