The skin discoloration developed about a couple of months ago.. before all of this the skin around my hairline was fine. I have no idea what this is nor what happened, but now I have to wear a hat because it has gotten so bad. I am still in high school, and many people are asking me "what happened?" and so on. A diagnosis would be helpful. Here's a picture below

Do you shave your hairline to get a neat modern look? If so i think this is the cause. Even though you have dark skin you can get even darker patches and its common on shaved patches which are exposed to sun. its called melasma and is quite common in your skin colour. If you have shaved your hairline,maybe let it grow back??
