hi I'm new to site, I have had polymyalgia for approx 3 years and haven't been able to get lower than 7mg of prednisolene. However when having moisturiser put on my back I find it so uncomfortable have to ask my husband to stop can anyone else tell me if this is usual
You may have myofacial pain syndrome?
Is it the skin that is sore or is the muscles in your back?
I find that if I'm flaring my skin hurts like skin often hurts when you have the flu and I know others experience a similar feeling. However, I also have had the myofascial pain syndrome that Flip refers to and then I can't bear firm pressure of any sort on the muscles that are affected. My GP once touched my shoulder muscles and I nearly jumped though the roof! Just because they were were really hard and inflamed.
I'm not sure what it could be, it feels very tender even when my husband is rubbing gently it's as if something under the skin is bruised, I normally have to tell him to stop, I could never have back massage think I'd hit the person doing it as so painful and uncomfortable, although as soon as stopped all symptoms disappear.
