For the past few months on and off, I've had the skin just under my lower lip just start peeling badly over and over including a bit of swelling. It's unsightly and the only thing that I can tell makes it happen more quickly is eating certain fast foods, actually within a few minutes. But sometimes it just happens for no decent reason, it seems. It just peels in that area, sometimes right at the tip of my left nostril. This happens a couple of times a week. What could cause something like this? My PCP prescribed Clotrimazole and Betamethasone Dipropionate cream, which helps while using the cream. But when I stop using the cream for a week or so, it comes back.
I have peri oral dermatitis (round the mouth) I find the sun, sweat and tomatoes trigger it. Never put any steroid cream on, it helps but can come back worse. I usually get treated with about an 8 week course of antibiotics. Normally doxycycline. 500mg once a day. As I said any steroid cream round your mouth is a no no.
