Hi guys, I'm really scared:( Yesterday when I was walking I got a weird feeling in my chest/throat. Normally, I just get one skipped heart beat, but this time when I felt my pulse, I felt two and then my heart rate was normal. (I'm pretty sure it was only two in a row but it could've been 3 idk). But, then I searched it up on google and it said it could be ventricular tarchardia and I got really scared because that leads to sudden death. At the same time however, I don't think I have any underlying heart problems as I had a ecg done last year and it came back as normal. I'm also 16 years old, but I'm really scared and all I'm doing is googling :((((
janel, please try to relax . it’s very common to have a couple skipped beats in a row when you have anxiety. I can’t tell you how many times that is happened to me and my EKG is fine. you are way too young to have ventricular tachycardia and one of the worst things you can possibly do is look up your symptoms. They will not pertain to you and your individual situation. Then you will scare yourself for no reason and that will increase the symptoms that you already have.
when we have anxiety, adrenaline is released through the body and that causes rapid heartbeats, skipped beats etc. but it’s perfectly harmless. Even though it feels weird
The best thing you can do is calm your mind down as much as you can. Your EKG is not going to change within a year or even longer especially at your age.
hopefully this will make you feel better, I am in my 50s and have had many anxiety symptoms including skipped heartbeats but I am doing absolutely great! When skipped heartbeats are due to anxiety and stress, they are not harmful.
. Think about what in your life is causing anxiety. School? Family? Relationships with Friends?
talking with a counselor can really be helpful! It really helped me a lot to put all this into perspective. they talk to patients who have anxiety and know how to help. Do things that are fun! do you things that make you laugh and smile! Enjoy your life. you are absolutely fine ![]()
