sleep disorder or what

I am 70 and live alone in the country and have for 15+ years

Lateky I've tried talking to someone in bed with me and even tried to reach out and touch them.  I wake up knowing I'm alone and there's no one there.

It Makes me feel restless and ineasy like I've lost my mind !

And I going crazy or what ?

Once I knew someone was in my house when I woke up at 2 AM. I went through the entire house, closets, under beds and everything and I knew in my heart I was alone.

Again am I losing my mind or what ?

Thanks

Hi Robert, do you have any friends or family in this country who you can talk to? I'm sure you are not losing your mind - living alone for so long might just be taking a bit of a toll on you... Hope you find someone who can help x

Hi Robert

Are you taking any medication, what you are describing could be a side affect of medications. You say that you know you are alone but talk to someone in bed or had the feeling someone was in the house.  Do you haverelatives to talk too. They wont think you are losing it.  I lost my husband 5 yrs ago and I wish I could imagine him here with me to talk to and I am in my 50,s  Take care and good luck xx

Hello Robert,  No you are not losing your mind.  This sound like sleep paralyis, it is quite common. I have experienced this myself.  The same as you i have felt the presence of someone in bed with me. Sometimes i have felt a presence in the room or flat. Sleep paralysis is where the brain is still active and the body is relaxed. Often you cannot open your eyes or you feel like shouting out, until you come out of it, a few seconds. This is difficult to explain and i could be wrong. Usually anxiety can cause it. I would not normally advice people to google but if you do you will understand. If i am wrong i am sorry. Thou it does sound like what i have experienced, thou not for a while now. Have you anxieties at the moment? If it is sleep paraylis it is not harmful but can be unnerving at the time. Hope this helps.

Best wishes.

Elizabeth.
