Hi all I am still only able to lie on my operated side, my right for about 30mins, then have to turn on to the left, my next side, next thursday, so will be on my back again or up against a wedge of pillows, for a fourtnight, who is now on theor operated side? and can stay on it for some time?
Posting a few nature shots from this area, hope you like them.
I have not even tried to sleep on my operated side yet. It hurts my un operated side too much and I have had no go ahead to do so and after all I have gone through in the last 15 weeks I really do not want to risk anything till I see the physio on August 3rd. I can totally understand what you are saying it really does not give you a good nights sleep laying on your back. But I prop myself up with loads of pillows and try and get as comfortable as I can.
I've been on operated side from about day 7, but more comfortable after stitches out on day 14. now at almost 4 weeks. It actually hurt more to sleep on un operated side and sleep was impossible on back although was on back for first week. I wasn't told anything at hospital about how I should sleep.
I slept on my non-operated side while still in the hospital and on my operated side week 10 post op - took me a while though to get used to it .. it (right) is my favorite side - scar felt lumpy and sore ... but it is getting better - still some soreness when i lie on scar -
Is it just uncomfortable or painful? does it keep you awake?
I turn a lot during the night - right, left, back - you get the picure ...
Talking about pictures : gorgeous - what is that little monkey called ?
Hi Ian, I can now at 9 weeks lie on my operated side for about an hour then have to turn over. I do spend a lot of time on my back as my other side is hurting too.
Hi Renee yes its too painful to stay on for more than 30 mins, but it sort of gets me in the dose off mode, then over on to my left and I wake up later on my left, I must be week 9 now after the on on16th May, I can stand on one leg, and walk so much better than before, and hope they dont cancell this time on thursday.
I can sleep on my operated side for as long as I like...but if I try to turn on the un-operated side, I have to make sure that I have a pillow between my knees, I have to keep my legs alligned and even so, after ten minutes I feen unconfortable and I have to change position. I feel a sort of pull on the operated side...the un-operated side doesn't hurt.
I hope all this makes sense...but I think that sleeping on your back for the first few weeks is the norm.
All the best for Thursday and keep sending your fab pictures!
I am 8 months out and can do everything (pain free) from mountain biking to landscaping, but still can not sleep on my operated side!
I'm waiting on a surgical date for hip #2 and find that I sleep way better on my yet-to-be-replaced-side! Go figure. I get the feeling that I will be in the same sleep-only-on-your-back situation as you soon.
I'd be happy to hear any tips and tricks that you uncover for making this as 'pleasant' as possible!
I am close to 4 weeks and can lie on my operated side for a short while....I roll onto it and then back a little until it feels comfortable. I used to lie on this side so it feels so good even for 10 minutes!!
lovely shots, the birds remind me of the cards I collected from tea bags when I was a child 😄
Lovely pics - we live in a rural property and lots of squirrels rabbits and all different sorts of birds - they are lovely to watch. My hubbie is always filling the bird feeders!
I started sleeping on both sides at week 5. Slight discomfort on operated side but still feel Ok sleeping on it. I had dissolvable stiches - don't know if that makes any difference. My unoperated side aches when I wake up in a morning if I have been lying on it - really strange - no answer to any of it really!
