I'm 10wpo and still use a pillow as it feels so comfy at night. Can only sleep on unop side as op side full of lumps and bumps. You could probably do without it by now though if you want
My last hip replacement was 4 years ago, I still use a pillow between my legs when I sleep on my side. I am not comfortable without one. Some of that may be personal preference, I use to sleep with 6 pillows on all sides of me from the time I was in High School until I got married .
I use a body pillow so I don't lose it through the night now.
Hi I am 10 month post op and must say the sleeping problem after the op was really a big surprise to me and the first few weeks were really difficult as I struggled to get any sleep however I remember around the 6 week period of being so tired that I carefully fell asleep on my side without the pillow and just started gradually reclaiming the lost sleep.Hope this helps a bit but when sleeping on my side around 6 weeks I was very careful so maybe try the same if you feel well enough and see how it goes
best wishes

I still use pillow but it's to relieve the dragging pain on hip I'm having done in 3 weeks. Can't sleep on left side as hip is so painful but new hip 14 weeks later is wonderfully painfree.
Hi Paul!
I am 9 months post op and would like to know if you are totally pain free at this point. I have some dull aches and pains and just want to know if this is normal. Some people say they feel absolutely nothing but I still have these aches.
Hi Ruth!
I am 9 months post op and still sleep with a pillow between my legs. It just helps to make my lower back pain more bearable.
Have slept with a pillow since 2 weeks. Make sure it goes to your ankles so no pivot action. Surgeon was happy for me to sleep on my side whenever I wanted to.
Take care

Hi Miele
I am 10 months post op but I am not totally pain free and do have some small aches and stiffness however from the position I was in last February I am very satisfied with the operation. As a lot of people on here describe my pain was similar to the awful toothache feeling which made moving around a nightmare.I deliberately followed all the safety precautions after the op and was quite content with slow progress in the beginning although as I said the sleep problem was a bit of a surprise. However after about 6 weeks I started swimming again and I would say that is when my improvement really began.Since then I have gradually built up my walking and could walk at least 6 miles a day quite comfortably now although I do have some small aches and pains after a longish walk however very pleased with the op how is your walking etc coming on.
