Slipped on crutches -increased pain

Hi wise ones,

I went to the pool yesterday: 3rd time this week and today had a busy day getting a lift into the city, sitting on uncomfortable chairs and another drive. Got home and my left crutch slipped on the floor, I didn't fall but my leg went further than it would normally but my right hip is more painful tonight.

Could it just be I've done too much or I've pulled the soft tissue? After I slipped I went to bed for a couple of hours as felt knackered!

I had bilateral THR 5 weeks ago and was so feeling good with my progress!

Sheila

Hi Sheila,

Talk about an' of ****' moment! I hope all is well and rest, a little icing and elevation will put things to right. Many, many people have reported that a 'dislocation' would have us writhing and in very serious 'call 911' pain. So hopefully this won't be a setback (except for a minor mental one).

Big and gentle hugs,

L

Please be assured by checking in with your dr. Tell them what happened if your pain is severe then a X-ray can show if any damage to the implant a cat scan for soft tissue.

I fell the first time I had THR. I was sore and did not cause any problems with the implant . The implant is secured and generally stronger than most hips without implants. I had a X-ray to be sue nothing was wrong and put my mind at ease.

As careful as we try to be it's always something we least expect that can trip us up.

Take it easy and rest your leg and within time this will all be behind you as your joining us hippies in the land of maintaining mobility!

Hi sheila,

well your body has "spoken"   - seems that you might have been overdoing it a bit -

seriously darling -- it is too much at 5 weeks post-op from single THR, let alone a bilateral one - please allow your body to do the healing the way she knows best ..

have you had your follow up appointment yet?  All restrictions were in place until my follow appointment at 6 (mine was 8) weeks post-op -

slow down, you move too fast -

big warm hug
