hi, i was told yesterday by my doctor, that after having a ultrasound for a fatty liver , a small cyst was picked up on my ovary , and have been booked in for another scan which is taking place tomorrow, i am 62 , in other wise good health and have no symptons at all , bot am now panicking, at how quick my scan has come through, has anyone else been diagnosed , with no symptons , thanks wendy
Me.
Don't worry about the second scan as may be in a different place/done differently so get a better picture.
thanks for your reply .
hi wendy that is quick wish mine was quick i had a scan about 3 wks ago wit 5cm cyst sent to hosp an they have told me they will re scan in 8 wks.i am in constent pain indigestion. maybe but by reading some discussions its seems to depend on where you live too.hope all goes well morrow x
It does, also what type needed and if have any cancellations at time appointment made.
thanks debbie, sounds like these cysts are very common , i always worry about the big C word , but having no symptons ,might be less than 3cm in which case i think the cyst is just monitored, hope you get your scan soon, im waiting for a definite answer as the sonographer wasnt too sure if he had seen a small cyst ,so hopefully the second scan will be more precise.
NHS choices website figures - "Ovarian cysts are common. It is estimated that nearly all women who still have monthly periods (from puberty through to the menopause) and about 1 in 5 women who have been through the menopause, will have one or more ovarian cysts."
thanks taz thats a comfort to me ,to know how common they are
I'm greedy and have one in each ovary 1 in 10 who have a cyst do
Call the right one Elvis the pelvis
hi taz , had a blood test this morning , i think its to check for any abnormalities in the cyst , thats if they still find one after my scan this afternoon, did you have any discomfort from your cysts, ? i have no discomfort at all .
I didn't/and haven't at the moment, back pain but my consultant is unsure if related as I also have wear and tear in my spine, they were found by accident and symptoms worked out retrospectivly. Had a blood test too, it is common
Was during a CT for my back pain then had Ultrasound to confirm it and get a better view
scan all done and it is, a small 22mm cyst, so unless it gets any bigger , ive just got to have it monitored, phew !!
Glad see it as monitor only.
Big hugs
thats good news wendy xx
