Hey, about a week my jaw was hurting and I was not able to chew properly on my left side of my mouth. I thought it was my wisdom tooth but like that wisdom tooth had already grown in - I have all four. So the pain continued then stopped, but I noticed about a week ago there was this bump in my mouth near the pain, near the wisdom area - a white hard bump, with no pain. I have soreness around my neck and sometimes in my ear. I drink alcohol a few times a week, and have been smoking cigars a few times here and there - on occasion. Any idea of what this is? Doctor said it was a canker sore but I don't think he knew. This bump has no pain, even when I eat spicy foods I have no pain. What is it? I will go to the dentist eventually. The doctor gave me this canker sore cream. I do take inhalers such as symbicort* - the pharm. said it could cause it, but I do rinse my mouth afterwards. I attached a picture to provide some visuals.
Pretty sure I had something like this before, and it wasn't serious. I've currently got a little bump on one of my gums that the dentist said could actually be gum from where the tooth poked through.
Definitely go see a dentist if it continues to bother you!
Thanks for replying. I hope its not serious, but I am wondering what the pain is from I experienced last week and on my jaw. I will def. go see the dentist.
No problem!
Always best to get checked out I think, at least you can put your mind at rest then when they say it's nothing to worry about.
Could the jaw pain be from clenching or something like that? I get that sometimes.
Hmm, I don’t think I clench too often for there to be pain. But like the pain I had last week was specifically noticeable when I would eat, so I thought it was the wisdom tooth. But now that the pain is gone the tooth didn’t seem to grow much more than what was already there. Now this bump is just there. Tbh I’m worried that my new smoking habits and weekly drinking had a play in this def. gonna cut that out, but based on what you said before, maybe it’s just a mark from the tooth. Let’s see. Pretty disappointed my doctor said it was a canker sore, it has no symptoms of a canker sore. Smh
I don't have a clue what this could be, but if your dentist is telling you it's a canker sore, he's nuts! I would get to see a Dental Surgeon ASAP and find out what this really is. You don't need problems in your ear and neck when you have no clue what you're dealing with. Please let us know what he says.

Reading on down through the other posts, now since you do have pain .... it very well could be an absess at the end of the root. Those things can be buggers. Antibiotic takes care of it, but you must see a dental surgeon ... you don't want it to get into your mastoid bone .... then you're really in trouble. GO ... now!

Thanks for replying! I will update you when I figure it out. Also in regards to your other post, I don’t really have pain on this thing, there was just pain around my jaw and wisdom tooth area. But no pain in regards to the thing in the pic. Like I can rub it with my tongue and nothing happens, when I push a little hard with my tongue there is some sort of sensation but I wouldn’t say pain. I don’t have dental insurance right now but will have it in a week, I actually visited my Family doctor and he said it was a canker sore, I think my dentist will be better at providing more info. Let’s see!
basically it just went away on its own!
